A cove is a part of a coast where the land curves inwards so that the sea is partly enclosed; a small bay or inlet, usually between rocky headlands.
A sheltered place.
Craft Cove borrowed its name from nature. Coves are places of refuge for creatures of all kinds. The sheltered shores offer safer habitats during storms; they also collect things. Discarded items and washed-up organics gather in areas of calmness, sticking to jagged edges and becoming part of new cycles. We believe in an art practice that combines these characteristics. One built on community and fostering support, of sustainability and finding new ways to use the forgotten. Art is like an ecosystem where everyone benefits with safer, more equitable access to resources. High tides lift all boats, and we hope our cove can be a refreshing refuge, even if it is a little “rough” around the edges.

Owner Larissa has always been passionate about creating, whether that was writing, DIY projects, or appreciating others' work. Craft Cove Studio started during the pandemic when Larissa rekindled an old hobby: woodworking. After a few years as a hobbyist, she knew that a more serious art practice was on the horizon. Her education path includes a Master of Fine Arts from UBC and a Joinery I/Fine Furniture certificate from Camosun College’s Fine Furniture Program. As the business grows, Larissa strives to learn new skills and handle more unique mediums. Currently, Craft Cove creates art from wood, resin, metal, and wax. Larissa strives to utilize sustainable materials (her classmates will attest that she was always the first one to rifle through the garbage) and support local creators/distributors in the process.
